In the first half of 2026, China’s surgical robot market continued to develop across multiple system categories in parallel.
Based on publicly disclosed tender and procurement information, company disclosures and industry data, MedRobot has conducted a phased review of the sales structure and system-type landscape of China’s surgical robot market in H1 2026.
The analysis covers major segments including endoscopic surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, dentistry, natural-orifice surgery and percutaneous intervention, and includes both sales in the Chinese market and overseas sales by Chinese surgical robot manufacturers.
01 Overall Sales Overview
Based on the scope and methodology described above, MedRobot estimates that:
Total sales of Chinese surgical robots reached no fewer than 366 units in the first half of 2026.
The figure covers major segments including endoscopic surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, dentistry, natural-orifice surgery and percutaneous intervention, and includes both sales in China and overseas sales by Chinese manufacturers.
This figure should be regarded as a conservative estimate based on currently available information.
The following chart compares the data for H1 2026 with the full-year figures for the previous two years.

In terms of market structure, endoscopic and orthopedic surgical robots remained the two largest categories, together accounting for approximately 73% of total sales.
Neurosurgical robots maintained the strong growth momentum recorded in 2025, contributing 59 units in the first half of 2026.
It is also important to note that overseas shipments made a particularly significant contribution to the endoscopic surgical robot category during the reporting period. The overall figures should therefore be interpreted with reference to both the domestic and overseas sales structures.

02 Sales Landscape by System Type
Endoscopic Surgical Robots: Overseas Shipments Dominate the H1 Sales Structure
Sales of endoscopic surgical robots reached no fewer than 191 units in the first half of 2026, making this the largest segment by volume.
The most notable structural feature of the category was the concentrated contribution from overseas shipments.
MicroPort MedBot delivered more than 120 Toumai® Endoscopic Surgical Systems overseas and 12 units in China.
Sagebot Intelligent Medical recorded 29 overseas units and one domestic unit.
Cornerstone Robotics recorded four units in mainland China and a combined five units in Hong Kong and international markets.
Together, the three manufacturers shipped more than 154 systems overseas, accounting for approximately 81% of total endoscopic surgical robot sales during the reporting period.
Excluding the overseas contribution, domestic installations of endoscopic surgical robots amounted to approximately 37 units.
This level was more comparable with the domestic installation volumes of orthopedic and neurosurgical robots and was also more consistent with the overall pace of market penetration in China.
Orthopedic Surgical Robots: A Multi-Vendor Landscape and Diversified Commercialization Models
Sales of orthopedic surgical robots reached no fewer than 78 units in the first half of 2026.
A total of 19 manufacturers participated in the segment, making orthopedics the surgical robot category with the largest number of suppliers.
The defining feature of the orthopedic surgical robot market is its highly fragmented, multi-vendor competitive structure.
The 19 participating manufacturers include both established companies with years of experience in orthopedic robotics and newer entrants that have joined the market in recent years. Their products cover multiple procedural areas, including spine, joint replacement and trauma surgery.
Differences among manufacturers are reflected in two main dimensions:
First, differences in product positioning, including spine, joint and trauma applications.
Second, differences in business models, including direct equipment sales, technical service arrangements and leasing-like models.
Commercial-model diversification is particularly evident in the orthopedic segment.
Leasing-like arrangements and service-based payment models can reduce hospitals’ upfront investment requirements, while participation by lower-tier hospitals continues to increase.
According to currently available data, Longwood Valley MedTech sold 12 systems in China and three overseas, while Yuanhua Robotics sold three systems domestically and three overseas.
Although overseas sales volumes in the orthopedic segment remain limited, several manufacturers have already taken substantive steps into international markets, indicating the early emergence of an overseas expansion trend.

Neurosurgical Robots: High Market Concentration Continues as Capacity Grows at a Rational Pace
Sales of neurosurgical robots reached no fewer than 59 units in the first half of 2026.
The segment recorded the highest level of market concentration among all surgical robot categories.
Sinovation sold 41 systems during the reporting period, accounting for approximately 70% of total neurosurgical robot sales.
This continued the highly concentrated market structure observed throughout 2025.
The concentration reflects the inherent characteristics of neurosurgery.
The specialty has exceptionally high technical barriers, a relatively concentrated departmental base and lengthy hospital selection and purchasing decision processes. As a result, the pace of market expansion is naturally more measured.
From an overall market perspective, the total addressable capacity of neurosurgical robotics has certain limits.
Installation growth is therefore more likely to come from deeper penetration within existing hospital groups than from large-scale horizontal expansion across a broad range of institutions.
The H1 2026 sales volume of 59 units, compared with 121 units for the full year of 2025, remains within a reasonable range for the current stage of market development.

Dental Robots: Yakebot Leads as a Three-Channel Commercial Model Begins to Take Shape
Sales of dental robots reached no fewer than 31 units in the first half of 2026.
Yakebot recorded 28 sales, including:
12 systems to public hospitals
9 systems to private institutions
7 systems overseas
This three-channel sales structure is representative of the current commercialization landscape for dental surgical robots.
The commercialization model for dental robots differs from that of several other surgical robot categories.
China has a large number of private dental institutions, and their purchasing decision processes are generally shorter, giving the private market independent penetration value.
At the same time, overseas shipments indicate that the internationalization of dental robotics is progressing in parallel with domestic market development.

Natural-Orifice and Percutaneous Robots: Commercialization Remains at an Early Stage
Sales of natural-orifice surgical robots reached five units during the reporting period.
Sales of percutaneous surgical robots reached two units.

Both categories remain at an early stage of clinical validation and commercialization exploration, and their contributions to the overall market remain limited.
No statistically usable sales data were available for vascular interventional robots during the reporting period, and the category was therefore excluded from the analysis.
03 Structural Observation: Domestic and Overseas Sales
Within the total H1 2026 sales figure of 366+ units, the contribution from overseas shipments can no longer be overlooked.
Overseas shipments for which clear data are available are summarized below.

From a category perspective, the scale of overseas expansion was most significant in endoscopic surgical robotics.
Three Chinese manufacturers recorded combined overseas shipments of more than 154 units.
However, these shipments were highly concentrated among a small number of companies and were largely reflected in concentrated deliveries during specific time periods. A longer data series will be required before clear structural patterns can be established.
Although overseas volumes in the orthopedic and dental segments remained limited, multiple manufacturers achieved substantive shipments, indicating the early emergence of more diversified international expansion pathways.
From a corporate strategy perspective, some manufacturers are pursuing domestic and international markets in parallel, while others generate a substantially higher share of sales overseas than in China.
This reflects clear differences in market-development strategies among companies.
Whether overseas expansion can develop into a sustainable growth path will depend on:
progress in international regulatory approvals;
the ability to establish localized service capabilities; and
the accumulation of long-term customer loyalty.
At present, these pathways remain at the exploratory stage.
Overall, international expansion is evolving from a series of isolated cases into a trackable structural phenomenon.
However, the strong influence of overseas data on total sales also means that domestic and international structures must be distinguished when interpreting overall industry growth.
Failing to make this distinction could lead to an overestimation of the actual pace of penetration within the Chinese market.
04 Interim Conclusions
In the first half of 2026, China’s surgical robot industry demonstrated several structural characteristics.
Multi-brand penetration continued in the domestic market.
The orthopedic segment included 19 participating manufacturers, multiple endoscopic robotic systems were commercialized in parallel in China, and the neurosurgical segment remained highly concentrated.
Competitive structures differed substantially across segments, while the broader trend toward domestic substitution remained visible in both endoscopic and orthopedic robotics.
Overseas shipments have become an independent analytical dimension.
This report presents domestic and overseas structures separately.
Overseas sales by Chinese endoscopic surgical robot manufacturers had a material impact on the total figures, while international expansion is evolving from isolated cases into a trackable structural phenomenon.
The limitations of half-year data must be recognized.
Industry procurement activity is typically more concentrated in the second half of the year.
H1 data alone are therefore insufficient to establish a full-year trend.
The figure of 366+ units should be interpreted in conjunction with the annual procurement cycle and the commercialization progress of each system category, rather than being mechanically annualized.
Overall, China’s surgical robot industry remains in a stage of structured development.
The future evolution of the market landscape will increasingly depend on:
system stability;
clinical adaptability;
long-term commercialization and operational capabilities; and
the sustainability and replicability of overseas expansion pathways.
